Preparing for Your Hospital Visit

Our dentist and team understand that in-office sedation and in-office care is not always the best option for our patients. We currently offer sedation dentistry and hospital sedation at St. Francis Medical Center to ensure that every patient who visits Briargate Advanced Family Dental for care can receive the treatment they need. By offering hospital dentistry, we can better help patients with special needs or complex dental needs receive quality care and maintain healthy mouths and smiles.

Below, we have provided some guidelines to help you prepare for your hospital visit. Please feel free to contact us at 719-475-2511 if you have any questions or would like to schedule a consultation with Dr. Peter McIntyre. We have been providing hospital dentistry in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for over 30 years and will be happy to answer your questions and help you become familiar with the process and requirements of this type of care.

Before Surgery

Patients who need hospital care typically have high anxiety, health issues or a medical diagnosis that prevents them from receiving care in a more traditional dental setting. If this is the case for you or your loved one, our team will schedule an appointment with you to create a care plan and set up a hospital case. This pretreatment consultation typically includes an in-office evaluation, but if we are unable to perform the evaluation at our office, our dentist will instead perform it at the time of the case in the hospital. We will discuss your entire treatment process with you so that you know what you can expect from your hospital treatment.

To provide you care in the hospital, you will need to complete a consent packet and physical. The consent packet will be provided to you after your treatment time in the hospital is scheduled. If you do not receive these documents, please contact our office. We also encourage you to contact our hospital coordinator if you have any questions or concerns.

After your case is scheduled, you or your loved one will need to complete a pre-op physical provided by your primary care provider. This physical must be completed no more than 30 days prior to the scheduled surgery date.

Hospital Dentistry and Timelines
Booking time in the hospital is very precise. Due to demand, hospitals are usually booked several months in advance. Please plan your visit well in advance and stay on a regular schedule if you require hospital dentistry.

After Surgery

Our dentist and team will follow up with you the day after your procedure. Please follow all postoperative instructions from the hospital to recover following treatment and get the best possible results from your procedure.

We will also schedule an in-office follow-up appointment with you after your case is completed.
